Class Curriculum

Jumps Classes (6-15 years)

  1. Backward outside pivot (from a standstill forward inside three-turn, outside edge travel around the toe)
  2. Waltz jump (moving with speed)
  3. Half Flip jump (moving with speed, inside edge required)
  4. Moving backward to forward two-foot turn on a circle (counterclockwise)
  5. Half Lutz jump (moving with speed, outside edge required)
  6. Single Salchow jump (moving with speed)

  1. Single Toe Loop jump (moving with speed, outside edge must pass the toe)
  2. Single Loop jump (moving with speed)
  3. Waltz jump / Single Loop jump combination (moving with speed)
  4. Single Salchow jump / Single Toe Loop jump combination (moving with speed)
  5. Single Flip jump (moving with speed, inside edge required)
  6. Single Lutz jump (moving with speed, outside edge required)

  1. Bell jump
  2. Waltz jump / Single Loop jump combination (moving with speed)
  3. Waltz jump / Back Scratch Spin combination
  4. Single Flip with speed
  5. Single Lutz with speed
  6. Standstill Single Axel

Spins Classes (6-15 years)

  1. One-foot upright spin from a standstill push and forward outside three-turn (4 revolutions)
  2. One-foot upright spin, entry from one backward crossover (3 revolutions)
  3. Scratch Spin positions gliding in a straight line
  4. Backward inside pivots (clockwise and counterclockwise)
  5. One-foot upright spin, entry from one backward crossover (4 revolutions)
  6. Scratch Spin, entry from one backward crossover (3 revolutions with foot crossed)

  1. Beginning Back Spin from pivot (1 revolution on the backward outside edge)
  2. Forward sit position glide, skating leg parallel (2 seconds)
  3. Scratch Spin, entry from one backward crossover (4 revolutions with foot crossed)
  4. Back Scratch Spin (3 revolutions on the backward outside edge)
  5. Introduction to Sit Spin (1 revolution, skating leg parallel)
  6. Introduction to Camel Spin (1 revolution, free leg knee above the hip)

  1. Scratch Spin / Back Scratch Spin combination, entry from one backward crossover (3 revolutions with foot crossed)
  2. Sit Spin (3 revolutions, skating leg parallel)
  3. Camel Spin (3 revolutions, free leg knee above the hip)
  4. Camel Spin / Sit Spin / Back Scratch Spin combination
  5. Difficult variations of basic spin positions

Skating Skills Classes (6-20 years)

  • Skills from the Preliminary Moves in the Field Test. Must have passed Academy Prep (required)

  • Skills from the Pre-Juvenile through Junior Moves in the Field Test and exercises to enhance the skater's Program Component Score in the International Judging System. Skaters must have passed the Preliminary Moves in the Field Test.
    For registration approval, please submit your USFS Test Record showing the Preliminary MIF test passed to the Skating Manager, Chris Pottenger, by email;

  • This class is geared towards the Intermediate Free Skate level and higher competitive singles skater. Skaters will be taught advanced skating skills in order to improve their Program Component Score, GOE, and Levels of Difficulty in the International Judging System. Skaters must have passed the Junior Moves in the Field Test and receive approval from the Skating Manager, Chris Pottenger.
    For registration approval, please submit your USFS Test Record showing the Junior MIF test passed to the Skating Manager, Chris Pottenger, by email;
    Upon receipt, Chris will schedule you for an evaluation for appropriate class placement.
